Make Em Laugh

120 x 79 cms

oil on board

This commissioned painting is now in the private collection of Faruk Somer in Germany.
Laurel and Hardy are walking their girlfriend's dogs. Behind them a lady examines a gallery shop window run by Charlie Chaplin. Groucho Marx is lying in the shop window surrounded by portraits of his brothers and other comedians. I have set the scene in the late 1920s but the window provides a glimpse towards the future of comedy.
