In September 2015, Jerry Saltz, the famous New York Times art critic referred to this painting in his blog when he wrote - "Dear Whitney Museum of American Art, please buy this painting for your collection. Thank you." My first large oil painting. You don't often see a nude Elvis Presley, let alone a naked St Elvis with his genitalia dangerously close to a leopard! However, my wife at the time was into the kitsch world of the King of Rock 'n' Roll as well as religious iconography and it seemed a fun idea to place both her and Elvis together in another Eden.
