Les Fruits De La Mer sold oil on board 60 x 80cms 2009
This started life under the title "Table For One Mermaid" and used Jack Vetriano's "Table For One" as the basis for the composition. However things evolved and the restaurant setting became a sunlit beach. Luxurious interiors are hinted at with the passing Queen Mary. I wanted to break away from the traditional view of mermaids. This creature has far more seductive possibilities. The top of her tail hints at stocking tops, she drinks wine and dines on lobster! She clearly enjoys land based fruits as well as les fruits de la mer...
